How We Got Started

Home-Aid Caregivers started in 2002 with a few thousand dollars and a few thousand prayers. My name is Joey Coker and I founded Home Aid Caregivers. I grew up in East Texas, in a small, rural community just outside of Jacksonville.

While I was growing up, I spent a lot of my time around older adults. They taught me the very best values of their generation: hard-work, self-discipline, commitment to marriage and family, responsibility, and faith in God. They also taught me honesty, integrity and humility. I am a country boy through and through which is why I started a family business. I am proud of my upbringing and the influences I enjoyed as a kid.

As I grew older, I recognized that America’s population was aging. I wanted to provide care for people the same way my family cared for their elders—with respect and dignity. It was always important to me that elders had the ability to live in their own homes enjoying what they love to do for as long as possible.

My education centered around eldercare. I graduated from Harding University and received my Master’s Degree in Long Term Care Administration from the University of North Texas.

No matter where I go, I am thankful I live in the Tyler area and grateful for my family, friends, and clients. The people I serve expect the best for their loved ones just like I do, so every family we serve gets the best we can offer.

We are also a member of the Tyler Chamber of Commerce.

Meet Our Team

Cynthia, Assistant Administrator

Cynthia has worked for Home-Aid Caregivers since it first started in 2002.  She’s known Joey Coker’s family for many years and can’t imagine working anywhere else. She love’s the work, the clients, and the enjoyable employees who make it feel like being with family rather than going to a job.

She particularly appreciates being part of a small family-owned business that strives to make the clients and employees feel important. Cynthia supports the company’s goal to help people stay in their homes doing the things they enjoy.

Cynthia has a business degree and her family includes a husband, daughter and a lovely grandchild.

Peggy, Staffing Coordinator

Peggy enjoys helping people and has worked at Home-Aid Caregivers for over ten years. Her background was in retail and banking before she found her current position with this senior in-home care company. She found working in the caregiving business to be very similar especially with her love of helping people. She was attracted to the vision of helping elderly people live independently in their own homes and enjoys being part of making that happen every day.

Peggy is dedicated to her family and church life. She is married and has three children, six grand-children, and one great-grandchild.

Becoming elderly does not need to mean living in isolation, losing outside connections, or enduring a diminished quality of life. By helping out with everyday jobs like running errands, light housekeeping, and meal preparation, our Home-Aid Caregivers, Ltd. can develop meaningful relationships with your loved ones in the comfortable setting of their own homes.

We care for your loved one by assisting with personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, personal hygiene, toileting, and transferring with the same gentleness that we would give to our own family members.

Caregiver Screening

Our screening process is thorough. We complete background checks of employment history, Texas Department of Public Safety, Criminal History, driving records, and the TDHS Employment Misconduct Registry. We also conduct extensive interviews to ensure that our caregivers are caring, honest and dependable. You can be certain that our employees will conduct themselves with integrity and compassion.


In addition to sharing our family-oriented perspective, our caregivers are well trained and experienced with age-related issues. Joey Coker is a Licensed Nursing Facility Administration (#7410), university graduate with a Master of Science in Gerontology and has successfully worked in the industry for over twenty years. He has broad experience in Senior Care in Skilled Nursing Facilities, Hospitals and Medicare Home Health Care Agencies. His extensive background allows him to provide comprehensive training and effectively oversee all caregivers employed by Home-Aid Caregivers.
